Non-Painful Abscess

  • An abscess is a bacterial infection of the tooth and gums.
  • Pediatric dental abscesses can often times be asymptomatic and non-bothersome.
  • If you notice a pimple or eraser head like protrusion from the gums and it is not symptomatic we recommend calling the office during business hours to set up an x-ray and clinical exam.

If the abscess if painful, causing facial swelling and altering sleep patterns due to discomfort we recommend calling the after hours provider as your child will likely need an antibiotic prior to evaluation.
