Torn Frenum (Torn Lip Tie)
Frenums are prominent muscle/tissue attachments on the inner upper lip and under the tongue.
If your child has an accident or trauma that causes a natural tear of the area, expect the following:
- bleeding upon initial trauma.
- pin point bleeding upon stimulation such as eating or brushing the area for the first few days post trauma.
- The area may develop a canker sore like lesion as it heals.
- healing time is usually 7-14 days.
Keep in mind citrusy, acidic, or salty food may cause discomfort the first few days after trauma. If this is the case we recommend a modified soft food diet with bland foods.
